Tattoo Aftercare instructions

If your artist used plastic wrap; With clean hands, remove the bandage off your fresh tattoo and wash it within 1-2 hours with warm water and a fragrance free antibacterial soap. Liquid soap is preferred. Allow your new tattoo to air dry or gently pat dry with a clean paper towel. You must wash it at least 2-4 times per day for the duration of the healing process.

If your artist used a second skin: 8-24 hours after procedure. With clean hands gently lift up a bottom corner of the film and slowly pull straight down, this will help loosen the film. DO NOT TEAR OFF LIKE A BANDAID. Wash the tattoo with warm water and a fragrance free antibacterial soap. Allow to air dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel. Continue to clean 2-3 times a day for the duration of the healing process.

After 1-2 days, the tattoo will begin to scab and itch. This is normal, DO NOT SCRATCH AT IT. Use a fragrance free lotion as needed to keep the tattoo moisturized.

Tips for success: Keep your healing tattoo out of the sun and do not fully submerge it in water (no swimming or baths, showers are ok) for at least a month after the tattoo procedure. Do not touch it or allow others to touch your healing tattoo with dirty hands.

Swelling and bruising on or around the tattoo site is normal for the first few days. It may also secrete plasma 1-2 days after the procedure.

Signs of an infection include:

  • red, painful swelling on or around tattoo site more than 3 days following the procedure

  • yellow or green pus weeping from tattoo area

  • red streaks running around the tattoo

  • the area feels hot to the touch, or you have a fever.
